May I apply for grants and loans for studies abroad?

Jente, 19

I am a Swedish citizen but have lived in Norway since I was 9 years old. I want to study a BA Costume Design in England and need to raise 25 thousand GBP per year for each of the three years. I also need to pay rent, food and material costs. Do I need to apply for Norwegian citizenship to be able to borrow from Lånekasse in Norway?

Svar

Hi!

As a general rule, you must be a Norwegian citizen in order to apply for support from Lånekassen for education abroad. There are, however, quite a few exceptations. You will find a list of conditions wich may grant you the right to apply for support as foreign citizen at Lånekassens webpages. Please not that you must also be able to document general study competence in Norway, as well as prove you have a link to Norway.

You may read more about how much you can apply for at Lånekassens webpages. You will also find an article below we hope will be usefull.

Vennlig hilsen Lånekassen i samarbeid med ung.no.
