Are there any rules for signatures?

Gutt, 17

as I've been getting older I have started to think about signatures... and I'm wondering can my signature be anything? what I mean by that is can it be something other than my name? can it be a smiley face like this :) ? and if it has to be my name does it have to be my full name? so lets say my name is "bob henry smith" does my signature have to include my first middle and last name? or could i write it as such "bob h smith" or "bob smith" when I have looked it up in the past it says it can be anything you want, but when I ask adults they say it has to be your full name. I'm just very confused and would like to know since I dont wanna make a signature and be told I cant use it, or write "bob smith" and be told its not valid since its not my full name.

Hi

I can´t find any formal rules about what a signature have to look like. It´s also not unusual for people to change their signature over the course of their lifetime. That said, it´s a good idea to have a signature that clearly show that it´s you that have signed, and have a signature that is not easy to imitate. As your signature is supposed to identifiy who has signed, a smiley would not be accepted as it doesn´t identify the person that signed. Whether you leave out your middle name or use just an initial probably won´t make any difference.

It may also depend on what you are signing. In some cases, it can also be useful for your signature to match the one on your passort og bank card, especially if you have to sign and show your ID at the same time.

I hope this was helpful.
