Help me pls. I have been suicidal for over a year

Jente, 13

I feel very bad mentally and am in a bad place, ive been suicidal for over a year and have done minor thing that i hoped wouldve killed me such as eating spoons with salt hoping it’d cause a heart attack or swallowing 20 paracet i now realize that couldnt have worked but my mentally well being just gets worse and worse i wont be alive much longer if i dont get serious help soon, i have a therapist but i wont get the help needed from her. i need more serious help or i will end up commiting suicide. ive already planned to hang myself whenever i can and if i find out that dosent work since i may not find a place to hang myself or something simmilar im going to stab myself till i bleed out. im just driving myself crazy i have constant thoughts of hurtinf myself and other people and i may act on the, at some point. i know i will act on hurting myself but im unsure if il hurt others too. theres nothing i could possibly want more than to die and there’s nothing that will stop that.help me pls

Hi!

Thank you so much for telling us how you feel. I agree that it seems like you are in a bad place now and have been for a while. I understand that it has been hard for you to feel like this for over a year and also understand that you need help.

I don't know why you feel that the therapist you have won't be able to help you. My first recommendation is that you talk to your therapist about what kind of help you think you need. If the help you usually get from your therapist is therapy appointments the next step will be to ask for being admitted for a stay at a psychiatric hospital. These hospitals are used when people are in a situation like you are where you don't know what to do anymore and are afraid of what you are going to do to yourself because of the hopelessness you are experiencing.

If it's not possible for you to ask for this from your regular therapist then it is important that you tell someone else about the situation as soon as possible. If you contact the Legevakt (phone number 116 117) you will get help. You can also go to the Legevakt without calling first. It's open 24/7. If you are making plans about killing yourself it is very important that you call right away - you can also call 113 for emergencies. The most important thing is that you don't think that you have to handle this alone because you don't.

Also remember that every situation, every feeling and every thought will change. You will not feel the way you do right now forever. It is important to hold on to this hope and hang in there until it gets a little bit easier.

All the best from a clinical psychologist
