Caught driving without licence

Gutt, 20

Hi one time I got caught by the police driving without having a driving license. I found out reciving a fine of 8000 kr or alternatively 16 days imprisonment on my post. I want to know now. (1) does this affect me when I'm applying for the Norwegian citizenship? (2) also I have a plan to get into aviation, does this affect me to study or to become a pilot in the future? (3) I want to know how long it take for this record to be removed from my police certificate? is there other ways which can make this record to become clean?

Hi,

vegtrafikkloven § 24 says you are obilgated to have driver license to drive a car. Driving without a license can be punished after § 31. Usually the punishment is a fine of 8 000 kr.

There are different types of police certificate of conduct. On the ordinary one the sanction will show for 3 years from the day you got the fine. You can read more about it here: https://www.politiet.no/en/services/police-certificate-of-conduct/information-included-in-a-police-certificate-of-conduct/

When it comes to citizenship you have to wait longer to become a Norwegian citizen if you get a fine from the police where the alternativ is 10 days imprisonment or more.

A police certificate of conduct is not required to start training to become an aviator. But you will have to show a police certificate of conduct to get access to airports. Read more about this at Luftfartstilsynet.
