Requirements in the Norwegian Intelligence Service

To work in the Norwegian Intelligence Service, which is part of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvaret), you need to meet several requirements - including holding Norwegian citizenship. You must:

• Be able to obtain a high-level security clearance, primarily "Top Secret"
• Hold Norwegian citizenship at the time of employment
• Agree to a lifetime confidentiality agreement
• Agree to an assignment obligation (beordringsplikt)
• If required: Meet the position’s minimum physical standards

There are many different educational paths that could be relevant. For example, the Norwegian Intelligence Service states on their website:

"Walking through our halls, you’ll meet anthropologists, linguists, IT technicians, self-taught hackers, military leaders, HR staff, researchers, cleaning personnel, engineers, lawyers, political scientists, and space specialists, to name a few."
